1st Day of School!!!

Today the big girls started school!!!! What a fun and beautiful day it has been! We had a short busy summer and it really seems like the last day of last year was just last week! Since a family of 6 can be SO chaotic, I decided to keep track of some things....perhaps it was more of a "I can control this, there is no chaos in it ..." thought...but here are some interesting facts about our summer:
  • We started our summer traveling in May with Uncle Ben's high school graduation. We also returned to IL for our annual 4th of July visit. We went to Minnesota 2x--one time to celebrate a mountain of things, the other time to get out of Andy's hair as he hosted open houses on our home and to attend the Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat production. We went to Omro 1 time to enjoy their nice swimming pool, and to Oshkosh 3 times. All in all, we traveled at least 2200 miles on trips this summer....and the true summer is not over. We are still hoping to make it to the beach on a weekend coming up.
  • The girls participated in piano lessons, gymnastic lessons and swimming lessons. Please help me remember next spring that 10 week sessions get long for EVERYONE involved! :)
  • The girls participated in 2 reading programs--they earned a free book and numerous trinkets (!) from the library and each earned $24 in free money at the Half Price Book Store.
  • Ellie went to music camp...and LOVED it!
  • We did lots of bike rides and stopped to talk to many neighbors!
  • Colin started to walk.....on Jayna's 7th birthday!
  • We went through 18 packs of juice boxes/Roaring Waters (yikes!)
  • and....we have our house up for sale!
We are so thankful for the Lord's provision in all of the above things, especially for the protection of Andy's job at Kimberly Clark. It is exciting to wait on the Lord with our family's life and to see the gifts He has instilled in our children.

The above photo is a collage of the happy girls this morning. Even Ava was happy...today is a hard day for her as her favorite playmates are absent! Yesterday, we were at the Outlet Mall in Oshkosh and the girls said "Please Mom? Can we just LOOK in the American Girl store....even if we don't buy anything?!" So we went....and Jayna spied the dress Ava is wearing--it matches her Bitty Twin's....we knew we HAD to get it for her. She was on cloud nine yesterday and today when she got to wear it!

You'll notice Colin is in the stroller on the group kid photo--it's the only way to trap him, even if it meant the 'beautiful' background of our 1/2 empty garage!

Here are the girls with Andy and I....and quite possibly the last year we'll take photos by my beloved black eyed susans.

Ellie the 3rd grader, at her desk this morning.

Jayna, the 1st grader...at her desk. First day of all day school--I'm sure it was a little tiring for her today!

So Ava is almost all alone with me at home...and for 3 months, she has been planning her special day when the girls go back to school. She desired to eat AT Luigis for BBQ Chicken pizza. She was very enthralled with the greeter at the restaurant...she had to have her photo taken with him!

She LOVED the pizza....in fact, BBQ pizza is the ONLY pizza she will eat. I became mildly concerned when she finished her 4th square of the yummy treat! Colin also loved it--he inhaled the BBQ chicken and said 'hi' to everyone, even the Luigi statue!

All in all, it WAS a fun day...and I'm sure it will be a spectacular year!

Wasn't it just yesterday that you were writing about their end of year programs? I love reading about your adventures - and your kids are some of the happiest kids I've ever seen! :)
