Summer, Week 8

After I did last week's recap, I realized I forgot a key photo...Ellie's allergy appointment documentation! With a "new to the school" new teacher for the upcoming year, we HAD to know if she is still allergic, before we go over the entire "how to handle an allergic kiddo" routine. Of course, despite trying NOT to have our hopes up, they WERE up....and fell quickly as Ellie heard the nurse repeatedly say "Bummer....bummer. Bummer...bummer." (For the record, NOT a kind thing to say to a 10 yr old undergoing skin testing with hopes of outgrowing allergies!)

And Ellie was a trooper with the 3 pricks on her back. Afterwards, I asked her WHAT she wanted as a treat....and she picked Cherry On Top (they were closed) and then she picked DQ. When we pulled up to the drive up, we found out that the slushie machine was broken! Ugh! And NOTHING else she could have from the DQ!

Jayna was sweet about the results--she told Ellie that her best day in her life will be a day not about her (Jayna), but rather the day when Ellie passes her milk challenge! And Ava...she looked up at Ellie and said "Ellie, I'm glad you are still allergic....we can still drink soymilk!"

We are ok...really.

So onto week 8!
We had a fun visit this week--with Aunt Megan, Uncle Tony, Oscar and Penny!
There is just something special about sisters...
and the children LOVE Aunt Megan so much...
The girls were nonstop asking to hold Penny...and definitely got holding opportunities...
and the kids LOVED being with cousin Oscar!
We went to the Special Memories Zoo in Greenville.
The petting zoo area was a hit for everyone except Ava...
and while Colin IS holding a bunny in the photo below, he mostly liked to play in the "sand"...aka dirt!
We were shocked at how uncrowded the zoo was! There were 3 other moms there besides us and a daycare that seemed to be leaving as we arrived! Above, the kids had fun sitting in the play cars.

All good things do come to an end though, and when Oscar realized they were LEAVING last night, he started crying and ran to Ellie! (Oscar LOVES Ellie! Those dairy allergic kiddos stick together!) We comforted him though telling him we'd see him next weekend at Grammie and Grampy's house!
Happy end of July!
