The Best Girls...

Wow! 2 posts in 1 day...I must have too much time on my hands right? (Please, no drop by visitors tonight...my house is a disaster!)

We have had a long, hard week...and we're just 2 days into it. The hardness started off Monday morning with an email from a teacher indicating that a certain strong personality child had been hurting another child's heart...for a month. My heart just sank. We then had a circus like remainder of the day with the chaos of swimming lesson problems, mayhem at Wendy's for dinner with drinks spilling all over our table, all over the diaper bag...it was just a day that none of us want to repeat.

So last night, as Andy and I talked through the day, we realized how thankful we are for the trials we face, for having to face the children's hardships while they are young....and how with prayer, we will grow, they will grow and things will turn out great. SO, we took a deep breath, prayed with our strong personality child and proceeded to repair the hurts...and the blessings started flowing. The "harmed child" was moved to tears, it meant so much to have the strong personality Glynn girl call her to apologize for hurting her feelings....and, in true 2nd grade fashion, the 2 girls are best friends today! (Gotta love that 2nd grade forgiveness trait!) We then tackled the swimming lesson mess, and today, the big girls had new lessons in a different YMCA. (Next week will be a much smoother week, I am sure!)

But the real reason for this entry is what happened tonight: Andy has been gone at a conference, and I pondered HOW I will make it through 2 weeks of his absence in a month when 2 days have been so hard? I was thinking "Do I need to arrange for a sitter to help me each evening? Do we need to hire a maid? Do I need to feed the children fast food each night to avoid the kitchen mess?!?!? And immediately, God blessed me with 3 girls' precious comments. We ate dinner, got Colin to bed, and all 4 of us girls climbed into my bed and snuggled together as we read 3 books and our devotional. As we finished, Ava said to me "Please, mommy, can I sleep in your bed? I just want to snuggle you all night, you are the best mommy!" (Only until Daddy comes home tonight, Ava...you kicked him ALL NIGHT LONG the one night we let you sleep in the middle!) And then there was Jayna.... "Mommy, you look tired...WHAT can I do to help you get your jobs done?" When I told her that I had a kitchen to clean up, laundry to fold, a lunch to make and a Colin to feed one more time, she said "OH Mommy, that is too much for you...I just want to stay up with you and help you all night!" (Bless that little girl's tender heart!) And finally, Ellie, the strong personality child...she shared with me how good it felt to be loving to her friends, how great her day was and we had a great chat about the blessings that come when we act more and more like Christ. (It was the afternoon/evening of today, that I truly saw the hope in how even a strong personality has the ability to love others and put down the selfish desire to always win and be self serving.) Thank you God, for the 3 little girls tonight, who gave true gifts of hope when life was starting to feel hopeless!

And for those of you who read about the "Epiphany Beads" earlier today....I was explaining to the big girls that I had blogged about it and they said "Well Mom, they WERE Epiphany beads...at least they should have been!" What cuties!

Oh, how precious!! These are the moments you need to ponder and treasure in your heart, so it's good that you blogged about it! The picture is so cute, too. :-)
